Talkin' Tuesday - - Meet Kelly!

Here are 9 Fierce Facts about Kelly and one line is completely fictional.  Get involved by guessing which one of the 10 items listed below is the impostor. Put your comments below and Kelly may be around on Twitter so you can poke at her for some hints!  The fictional statement about Kelly will be posted next Tuesday when I feature the next CN Teammie. See below for the false fact about last week's featured teammie, Kristi.

1. I am a history teacher for my real job. Most people I meet think I teach art (because of Etsy) or Kindergarten (I think because of how I dress... lots of rainbow colors.)
2. I am married to a philosophy professor who writes books. He actually encouraged me to go part time teaching so that I could do art... thank goodness I married another flaky artist who believes in it!
3. I live in Colorado and I have climbed all of the Colorado 14ers (14,000 feet peaks). I did most of them before I turned 30. I have a teeshirt that is really ugly with the names of all the 14ers and I have them all checked off. I wear it all the time because I love to brag about it.
4. We have two sons named after saints: Augustine and Becket. We are uber nerds.
5. We don't have a TV... and it makes me so happy. I am actually a TV addict and I think if I had one again I would never get any art done.
6. I LOVE NPR... especially This American Life. When my sons were little and so constantly needy I would put on a podcast from NPR while I walked them in the stroller or nursed or change my millionth diaper. I think NPR saved my life.
7. My best friend lives in my town and is an awesome Etsy artist too! Her name is Betony and she is graysparrow on Etsy.  We do craft shows together and are usually the only "fine arts" artists there, which is really fun. We often do live painting while we sell art.
8. I hate olives. That is it. I like everything but I hate olives. Strangely I love olive oil and the color olive green. Also, what are pimentos all about?
9. When we were in college my husband was in a ska band. I basically stalked him until he liked me back. I was a super pathetic groupie.
10. I love coffee. I wish I loved normal coffee, but I love $5 lattes and I drink one every day. I often wonder how much thinner I might be if I hadn't consumed so much milk over that last 10 years. I don't wonder for long though, I never consider giving up lattes.

Hi team-awesome! My name is Kelly Cook. I have had the best time being a part of Curation Nation. I love the idea of doing art in community and I love this team. It has certainly brought me tons of exposure and sales, but best of all lots of support and ideas and love. I live in Colorado and I create art out of broken and worthless things. I started drawing on vintage paper as a lark (ran out of journal paper) and it kind of became my "thing). I make almost everything out of things that are headed for the land fill. This is partly because I am a green hippy (I live in Colorado after all) and because I am cheap! Thanks for reading my fun facts and being a great team!

*******Last week's false fact about Kristi from kristimcmurry was this one: #5 is not true.... I love green veggies, especially Broccoli and English Peas! My own personal comment: Can't you just see that face across the dinner table from you telling you that she wasn't going to eat her veggies?  Ohhhh man, I could!

  1. Oooohhhh Kelly, you know that I liked you before, but now I ADORE you!! My BF lives in Colorado now so next time I'm there we will need to make a 'playdate' as I believe she is near you. I'm with you on the whole olive slash pimento concept. I don't even like them when they are drunken skunks after they've hung out in my martini glass. I'll join the coffee clutch with you anytime because I'm not even embarrassed to say that I CANNOT live without it. You've been an absolute dear to me personally and I'm always so appreciative of your kindness. Big hugs Kel!!

  3. I'm guessing #10 is the false fact. An outdoorsy "nerd" that doesn't watch TV doesn't seem like someone who would be addicted to lattes. PS- I hate olives as well (unless THAT'S the false fact...)

  4. Hi Kelly :) Everything sounds so convincing! I have no clue what would be false but do love the way your profile reads, I'm looking forward to finding out whats the false fact is!

  5. Yay Kelly! Well I know you live in Colorado. I also bet the bit about lattes is true because you wrote " I often wonder how much thinner I might be if I hadn't consumed so much milk over that last 10 years." I have had this same thought over my guilty pleasures. I think it is the bit about olives. I think you actually love them. :)

  6. I agree with Jessica!

How can anyone NOT love the amazing, salty DELICIOUS flavor of green olives? If you say they aren't good...you're a bunch of Pinocchios! *zzzoooop (that's the sound of your noses growing)

Therefore you hating olives, MUST be the false fact! *Putting Sherlock Holmes magnifier away...

and p.s. We love having you here too! Thanks for being another ray of sunshine in our super bright team :)

  7. I am going to guess you don't have a tv is false especially if you love television, but I haven't gotten one right since! :)

  8. I will say this, you are all very smart about WHY you think some of my facts are false... this is fun. I should have had some great "and then I quit the circus fact" that was false
    ;)

  9. Hey Kelly!! So many fun facts!
Wow what an interesting person you are!!

I have to pick #8. You're such a positive spirit...the word "hate" just doesn't ring true to me.

Can't wait to see if I'm right.

  10. I was drinking my beloved coffee as I was checking back in to see what peeps wrote. Then as I was reading the goofball Stacey's comment, said coffee got splattered all about the computer from laughing OUT LOUD!!!

And when I call peeps Pinocchio's I put my fist on my nose and go out and then in, like I'm playing the trombone. I can just see Stace doing that too!

Heeeeheeee, I know the right answer to Kel's fib-a-roo yall!!

  13. This is full of so much interesting and fun stuff. I really enjoyed reading it and getting a little glimpse into your life. You're a great story teller!

I don't believe you had to get your husband to like you back. Nope. Maybe he was in a ska band....but the rest of it sounds iffy. Hmmm. We'll see.

  14. Wow, Kelly - I wish I lived near you! We could listen to NPR and hike and drink lattes and not watch TV together. Except I'd be eating olives. Well, maybe not with a latte, but... I'm going with olives as false, too, though Melinda's reasoning is pretty convincing as well. I'll bet your husband was chasing you around. I can't wait to hear the truth!
